Having trouble keeping track of your job applications? The Applied tab in My Jobs helps you stay organized. In this article, we'll explain the different application statuses. We'll also show you how to manage, update, or withdraw an application.
Important: Some employers post jobs directly on Indeed. Others send you to another site to apply. Certain options listed below are only available for jobs posted on Indeed. Learn more about the types of jobs on Indeed.
Application statuses
What is an application status?
- Your application status shows what's happening with your job application.
- You can update some statuses yourself. Other statuses change based on the employer's actions.
- Statuses updated by the employer or by Indeed are usually only available for jobs posted directly on Indeed. If you applied on another site, you may not see these statuses.
Statuses you can update
- No longer interested: You're no longer interested in this job.
- Interviewing: If you get an interview, update your status to Interviewing.
- Offer received: The employer offered you the job.
- Hired: You accepted the job offer.
Employers can also change your status to Interviewing, Offer received, or Hired.
Statuses updated by the employer
- Application viewed: The employer reviewed your application.
- Employer reached out: The employer contacted you through Indeed.
- Not selected by employer: The employer rejected your application.
Statuses set by Indeed
- Applied: You submitted an application.
- Employer reviewing applications: The employer is reviewing applications, but has not reviewed yours yet.

Response seems unlikely: We don't expect the employer to reply. This status appears when:
- The employer has already hired enough candidates, or
- There has been no activity on your application for at least two weeks
- Job closed: The employer closed the job, or the job expired.
Did you know? Statuses set by Indeed are only available if you use the mobile app.
Managing your applications
- Click or tap the three dots next to the application status.
- Choose one of the following options from the Manage this job menu:
- Archive
- Report Job
- Update status
- View and manage details
- Withdraw application
Did you know? You can only view details or withdraw an application if the job was posted directly on Indeed.
Updating an application status
- Click or tap Update status.
- Choose a status:
- Interviewing
- Offer received
- Hired
- No longer interested
- The new status will appear above the job title.
Withdrawing an application
Important: You can only withdraw an application if you applied directly on Indeed.
Before you withdraw your application
- You may not be able to apply again.
- The employer may still contact you.
- You can tell us why you're no longer interested.
- This optional survey is confidential and optional.
- We won't share your response with the employer.
- You can choose reasons like no response, no longer interested, or another reason.
- Did you withdraw by mistake? Message the employer to update or correct your application.
Missing applications
You might not see an application in My jobs if:
- You did not apply directly on Indeed
- The application is linked to a different Indeed account or email address
- You applied more than six months ago

Question: Can I reopen an application? I withdrew by mistake.
Answer: No. You must message the employer to update or correct your application.
Question: Can I get a list of my past Indeed applications?
Answer: Yes. You can review applications for jobs posted on Indeed that are older than six months. Learn what to expect when you submit the Personal Data Request Form.
Question: Can I check if the employer viewed my application?
Answer: Maybe. Employers can update application statuses for jobs they posted on Indeed.
