Question: Can I create my resume using a graphic design program?

Answer: Maybe. We don't recommend complex designs. Some employers use applicant tracking systems (ATS). These systems work best with simple, text-based layouts. Graphics, images, and text boxes may not work well.

Tip: Some employers let you add supporting documents to your application. This is where you can include a more personalized resume.

Uploading a resume

Question: Can I upload multiple resume files to my Indeed account?

Answer: No. You can only upload one resume file at a time. You can keep different versions saved on your device.

Question: I deleted my resume file. Can you send me my old copy?

Answer: No. We don't store past resume files or profiles. You can download your current profile resume at any time.

Question: Can I upload a cover letter when I apply for a job?

Answer: Maybe. Some job applications allow you to upload a cover letter. This depends on the employer and the application type. Learn more about adding cover letters and other documents.

Question: Does uploading a resume make it public?

Answer: Maybe. You can choose if your resume is public or private. Uploading a resume for a job application doesn't make it public.

Question: Can I replace my uploaded resume?

Answer: Yes. When you upload a new resume, it replaces the old file. The new file will be used for future applications.

Important: Uploading a new file will overwrite the previous resume. Save copies on your device.

Editing or updating a resume

Question: Can I update my application? I sent an employer the wrong resume.

Answer: No. You'll have to contact the company directly to edit your application.

Question: Can I edit my uploaded resume file?

Answer: No. To change an uploaded resume file, you must upload a new file. The new file replaces the old one.

Question: Can I change the format of my profile resume?

Answer: No. Your profile resume has one layout. You can edit the content in your profile. When you download it again, the layout stays the same.

Printing a resume
