Quick summary
Most issues with joining or using Indeed Interview can be solved with a few quick checks. In this article, we'll share some common troubleshooting tips on fixing device issues, camera and microphone permissions and video and audio settings.
Step 1: Check your device and browser
Confirm that you are using a compatible device and browser. We recommend a desktop or laptop, but a mobile device can also work.

Step 2: Set your camera and microphone permissions
Allow camera and microphone access for Indeed Interview. Use the audio and video test screen to review and adjust your permissions.
Desktop
Google Chrome (recommended)
- On the video test screen, click the camera icon in the address bar.
- Make sure your microphone and video permissions are set to Allow.
Safari
- On the video test screen, click the red camera icon in the address bar.
- Confirm your camera and microphone are set to Always Allowed.
Microsoft Edge
- On the video test screen, click the lock icon in the address bar.
- Check that the camera and microphone are set to Allow.
Firefox
- On the video test screen, click the lock or camera icon in the address bar.
- Make sure permissions are enabled.
Mobile device
iOS (iPhone or iPad with Safari)
- When asked, tap Allow for microphone and camera.
- If blocked, tap aA in the top left corner to access Website Settings and set camera and microphone to Allow.
Android (Chrome browser)
- When asked, tap Allow for microphone and camera.
- You do not need to let Chrome 'record audio' for interviews.
Step 3: Fix video and audio issues
Video
Before joining a Hiring Event, you'll receive a link to test your video, audio and network.
- Check your camera permissions if you don't see yourself in the video test.
- Run a Daily Network Test if the issue continues.
- Don't worry if you hear sounds. This means your microphone and speakers are being tested.
- If the test fails, your network may be blocking the video platform.
Audio
If the other person can't hear you:
- Restart your device.
- Rejoin the interview..
Important: iOS Safari has a known issue where the microphone stops working if another app is opened during an interview. Restarting the device should resolve this issue.
