Know the basics

  • Your file is automatically converted into a PDF. This helps employers view it easily.
  • Let employers find you, or keep your resume hidden. The profile settings menu page explains more about these privacy settings.

File formats and best practices

These tips help employers access a clear copy of your resume.

Don’t

  • Scan your resume or take a photo of it.
  • Use photos or graphics.
  • Use two-column layouts.

Uploading a resume file

For new or existing accounts, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Open your Profile.
  3. Click or tap Upload your resume.
  4. Choose a document stored on your phone or desktop computer.
  5. Preview the resume.
  6. Click or tap Upload this resume. You can also upload a different file.
Tip: Complete your contact details, preferences, and profile anytime. This will help employers find you, and we use it to match you with jobs more effectively.

Managing the file you uploaded

  • Use the Resume options menu to manage your uploaded resume file.
  • Visit the resume options menu page in the Help Centre to learn more.

Technical support

Issue: Some sections of my profile are in the wrong language.

Solution: You may be logged in on an Indeed page for a different country. Follow these steps to fix the issue:

  1. Delete the resume file from your profile.
  2. Visit Indeed Worldwide and select the country you’re currently in.
  3. Upload your resume file again.

Issue: The content from my resume is uploaded to the wrong sections of my profile.

Solution: If the file you’re uploading isn’t organized in the traditional format, some of its content may be missing or misplaced. Sign in to your account and edit your profile manually.

Issue: I’m trying to upload a resume file, but it’s not working.

Solution: There might be an issue with the file. Try the following:

  1. Check the file format. Not all file formats are accepted.
  2. Use a different file.

FAQs

Question: Can I block my current employer from finding my profile on Indeed?

Answer: No, you can’t hide your resume from only your current employer. Learn more about managing your privacy.

Question: Can I update my profile using the resume I uploaded?

Answer: Yes. You can use the Sync to profile feature to update your profile with the details from your uploaded resume. Here are the instructions on how to sync your profile.

Important: If you merged your Glassdoor and Indeed accounts, using Sync to profile will also update your profile on Glassdoor.
