I'm not receiving a verification code

Problem: Your phone may be blocking the verification message.

  1. Solution: Change your Do not disturb setting.
    • Unblock any phone numbers from employers in your device's Do not disturb setting.
    • Make sure your Do not disturb setting is also set to Allow Notifications From.
  2. Solution: Verify that your device is powered on and within cell phone coverage.
    • If the device's signal is weak, turn it off, wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  3. Solution: Confirm that you are receiving text messages from other services or senders.
  4. Solution: Check your phone's message memory.
Tip: Your phone or provider may be flagging the text as spam. Contact your network provider to check if they're blocking third-party verification messages.

I'm asked to try a different number

Problem: If you receive the error message "This phone number is already linked to the maximum number of accounts. Try a different number," you likely have already used the phone number for other accounts.

  1. Solution: Sign in to one of your other accounts and remove the phone number or close the account.
  2. Solution: File a request to remove your data on Indeed. You can learn more about it in our article Requesting or Deleting Your Data.
  3. Solution: Use a different number to verify your account, like a landline number.

I'm told to try again

Problem: You'll see the error message "There was an error verifying your phone, please try again," if your account was flagged and blocked.

Solution: Once the issue that flagged your account is solved, the block lifts automatically after twelve hours. We recommend waiting a while and trying again later.

Important: Follow our Job Seeker Guidelines to keep your account from being flagged.
