Recognising a call or text scam
Pretending to be from Indeed
- Creating a sense of urgency like revoking access to your account or resolving a technical issue within a time limit
- Requiring you to share personal or sign in credentials
Pretending to be an employer
- Making enticing offers or opportunities that seem too good to be true
- Asking you to click a link or contact them through another communication channel

- Employers can only call you if you give them your phone number when you apply

Other common scams
- Posing as a familiar company or person, such as your bank, service provider, CEO or distant relative
- Claiming you have a package that's held up by your local postal service with a "Click Here" link to resolve it
- Impersonating tax agencies demanding payment immediately
- Claiming to be tech support for an urgent fix to your device
These scams aim to steal your personal information. This can include your identity, finances, login credentials or even access to your devices.
Protecting yourself from call or text scams
Stop communicating
- Stop all contact with anyone you suspect might be a scammer
- Do not share any personal information
- Block the caller's phone number
Report the call
- Report suspicious phone calls or messages to local law enforcement
- If you believe scammers are using a legitimate business's name, contact the business to report the fraudulent use of their name or information
